The Ardnt House was owned by Garland Dewey Arndt and his second wife Elma. Arndt served as the general manager of the North Carolina Cotton Growers Association and the Farmers Cooperative Exchange. F. Carter Williams & Associates provided architectural services; however, it is unknown exactly which of the firm's partners designed the home, since they all practiced innovative modern design. Construction services were provided by the Davidson Construction Company.
