The Levin Jewish Community Center is a new facility in the Durham community. It hosts Jewish families and Jewish events while including those of other religions from the Triangle Area. It has a cafe, swimming pool, gym, workout equipment, babysitting room, social hall and offers many classes. Some of these classes include zumba, cycling, dance, and others.
There is a teen lounge upstairs which has a wii, air hockey, and other things. You can join and be a member no matter what religion you are. During the summer, camps are offered to children of ages 4-13. The life guards and counselors are great with kids and love to spend their summers at camp. The pool is open from 10-8 on most days. There are lock ins and other teen activities.
There is a social hall that can be rented for dinners or social gatherings. There is a welcome center with people who are always available to answer your questions. There are two pools. One is a lap pool with a walk in ramp. This pool also has a diving board and the lanes can be removed to make a recreational pool. The other pool is a play pool. It has water spouts, a water slide, and only goes up to 4 feet deep. At the pool, you must take a swim test before you can go swimming. The life guards will give you a colored band based on your swimming ability. Depending on what color band you get, you will be restricted to certain parts of the pool. Swim lessons are offered to help raise your band color. During camp, there is swim time twice a day. Once in the morning for swim lessons and another time towards the end of the day for free swim in which the campers can go into the play pool, and use the slide and the diving board. Different types of camps are offered on different weeks, these are called specialty camps. Campers can be signed up based on age and activity or you can come to traditional camp. Traditional camp is all ages. The campers are put into groups by age. All of camp comes together in the morning, at lunch, and at the end of the day. There they will sing songs and play games. The JCC is a very fun and family oriented place. Everyone is always welcome to stop by and see what is going on!
