Built for Garland S. Tucker, owner of the G.S. Tucker Furniture Company, this imposing Neoclassical frame house features a two-story columned portico, beveled-glass window detailing, and a symmetrical composition. Threatened with demolition in the early 1970s, the City of Raleigh moved the house from Blount Street to its present location. It now serves as a community center for Mordecai and Oakwood neighborhoods and can be leased for receptions. For information call 919-831-6009.
