Overview
Tyler’s Taproom is a small chain of restaurants with locations in Carrboro, Durham, Apex and Raleigh. Founder and owner Tyler Huntington opened the first location in Carrboro in 1998, with the newest location opening in Raleigh in 2011. All restaurants feature a casual dining atmosphere and place a heavy emphasis on craft beer. Their tap selection features a large selection of North Carolina breweries.
About Tyler’s
As a casual dining establishment, there is no dress code. Smoking is prohibited indoors but allowed on the patio in Durham, Apex and Raleigh. The Apex and Durham locations have private rooms that can be booked for special events, but the main restaurants do not accept reservations.
Menu
The menu features a selection of more than ten burgers and other pub-style cuisine, most with a Southern twist. All ground beef is antibiotic and hormone free. In addition to their burger selection, the menu also features dishes served with beer battered fish, Eastern North Carolina-style barbeque, and fried chicken. Carrboro and Apex locations also serve pizza. All locations are open for lunch and dinner, with most locations serving food until 1 a.m.
Beer Selection
All locations feature a large selection of craft beer on draught. The Apex and Raleigh locations feature 80 taps, while the Durham location carries 70 taps and Carrboro boasts 38. Throughout the week there are daily beer specials at each location.
In addition to the main restaurant, the Apex, Carrboro and Durham locations also has a Speakeasy, a bar attached to the restaurant with pool tables, arcade games and televisions.
A craft beer retail store called the Carrboro Beverage Company, also owned by Huntington, is attached to the Carrboro location. The store offers samples of a rotating selection of beers so customers may try unfamiliar products before purchasing.
The Raleigh location includes 'draught tables' that allow patrons to pour their own beers with a digital meter that measures each pour.
