The Walnut Creek Greenway entrance is off Peterson Street, adjacent to the Walnut Creek Wetland Center. There is an eastern and western branch. The eastern branch currently ends after about 4 miles, but will eventually connect to the Neuse River Trail Greenway (under construction). Not far up the western branch you cross under a railroad bridge, and then a tunnel under Hammond Road before emerging at South Wilmington Street. About a 100 yards north up the street the Rocky Branch Greenway entrance is visible across the street, at the intersection of Wilmington Street and City Farm Road.
