The River City Roller Girls are a nonprofit, volunteer-run organization that specializes in playing roller derby in Richmond. Only females can play for The River City Roller Girls, but RCR does have some male staff memebers. They follow the Women's Flat Track Derby Association rule set (WFTDA), and are a rookie league for WFTDA. Each Year they pick 2 charities to raise money and awareness for, and in 2009 their charites are Ring Dog Rescue, a local nonprofit pit bull rescue league, and Books on Wheels, a local nonprofit organization that specializes in repairing bikes and giving books away to needy people. The River City Roller Girls (RCR) have 2 home teams that both travel and play at home. Poe's Punishers is the "all star" team- and is comprised of the most skilled players. The Uncivil Warriors work as the 2nd string, and is comprised of rookies or previously injured or away skaters. The Uncivil Warriors play both at home and away and both teams have equal travel and home bout opportunities. Generally there is a home bout every other month year round in Richmond, sometimes every month, or 2 in a month depending on the time of year.
