From their website:
The 40 Acres Art Gallery is a non-profit arts organization and gallery dedicated to exposing and educating the Oak Park and greater Sacramento Community to a broad range of visual art scene forms by presenting museum-level exhibitions. Admission is free.
The 40 Acres Art Gallery is integrated within a larger entity, the 23,000 square foot multi-use 40 Acres Art Gallery and Cultural Center, located at 35th Street and Broadway in Oak Park, Sacramento, and consisting of a performing arts facility, an African-American bookstore, a coffeeshop, a barbershop and twelve apartments. Best described as a museum without walls, 40 Acres exhibitions can be found throughout the 40 Acres project, including:
- 40 Acres Art Gallery
- underground books
- 40 Acres Cultural Center lobby
- Uncle Jed's Cut Hut Barbershop
- Starbucks Coffeeshop
Art is a vital, integral aspect of the entire 40 Acres project and fulfills the Art Gallery's mandate to bring art to the community - by presenting exhibitions, public art installations, educational programming and special events where people live, eat and socialize.
