Bethany Drive begins as residential street at Scotts Valley Drive in Scotts Valley and leads to Bethany University. Bethany Way is a small residential branch of Bethany Drive. Bethany Loop is a small loop through the Bethany University campus that begins and ends connecting to Bethany Drive. Bethany Park is the residential area near the campus of Bethany University.
The streets and residential area were named after Bethany Bible College (later re-named to Bethany University, which moved to the area under a different name in 1950, and took the name of Bethany in 1955.
The name Bethany is derived from the village in Palestine named in the New Testament, and is from the Hebrew, meaning "House of Poverty".
