Club Dakota was a GLBQTI friendly bar and nightclub. Entertainment at the club included a ladies night, drag queen shows (such as the Shanda Leer Show), and DJ AD was a regular DJ at the club for 10 years.
The original process of opening Club Dakota took 2 years long, due to a city ordinance that prohibited new clubs to open in areas already concentrated with similar businesses. The club started losing money in 2006, and owner Geoffrey Stout filed a bankruptcy petition. Efforts by one of the club's managers to buy the bar did not pan out.
