CAN is a UCSC organization that works to work with environmental justice issues in coffee, especially dealing with the disparity between how much the consumer pays and what the farmer actually receives. 50% of all coffee served in campus dining halls is purchased through CAN. Coffee is also available direct from the farmer via online ordering. CAN holds quarterly internships for students in Nicaragua, working between producers and consumers, as well as with issues of survival of livelihoods of coffee farmers, deforestation and species extinction.
CAN has meetings every Tuesday at 6pm (vegetarian potluck provided).
