Description of Work
Jeanne Wakatsuki Houston is well known for her book Farewell to Manzanar (1973) which she wrote with her husband, James D Houston. Manzanar recalls her experiences as a seven year old living in the infamous prison camp where American citizens of Japanese descent were held during World War II. The Houstons received the Humanitas Prize for the 1976 NBC teleplay for Manzanar. Jeanne Wakatsuki Houston is also the author of The Legend of Fire Horse Woman and she helps organize the Pacific Rim Film Festival
