Monterey Bay |
Monterey Bay is part of the Pacific Ocean and is perhaps the most significant geographic feature in the Santa Cruz region. It serves as the home to a large marine ecosystem, including dolphins, otters, sea lions, squid, abalone, kelp, and the like. It also features the Monterey Canyon, an extremely large underwater canyon, and the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary, which organizations such as Save Our Shores are dedicated to protecting.
You can enjoy the view of the Bay from various points around the county, including the Pogonip, many parts of the UC Santa Cruz campus, East Cliff Drive, West Cliff Drive, Highway 1 North and South of Santa Cruz, etc.
