Description of Work
Mott Jordan is a Santa Cruz artist and illustrator. Jordan's oil paintings and mixed media works bring together many influences including surrealism, psychedelia, lowbrow pop and comic art, naive Americana art, circus posters, as well as Italian, German and Flemish early Renaissance art. His illustrations graced all the Shakespeare Santa Cruz posters and graphic materials from 1995 - 2007. Other notable illustration and graphic arts clients include Symphony Silicon Valley, Universal Audio, E-Mu Systems, Ballet San Jose, Tandy Beal and Co., Pacific Rim Film Festival, Muse Research, and many more. Jordan received his BA in studio art from UCSC. He currently works out of the art studios at 17th Avenue Studios, is art director for the Student Guide and several other publications, and he plays in the bands Mysteryboy and Fainting Goats.
