Palo Alto Savings and Loan Association came to Santa Cruz by merging with Salinas Valley Savings in 1969. They changed the name to Palo Alto Salinas Savings and Loan Association. In 1972 the name was changed to Northern California Savings.
Northern California Savings posted a $4,897,000 loss for 1981. In July, 1982, Great Western Savings and Loan bought Northern California Savings.
