Panther Beach is about one mile south of the town of Davenport. There are no facilities and no permanent trails. The posted signs say it is open from sunrise to sunset. The beach is located at the mouth of Yellow Bank Creek, and at one point it was also known as Yellow Bank Creek Beach.
A good idea is to get out of there before it gets dark. The only thing worse than trying to climb your way up a cliff in the dark is having to be rescued.
At one time, people said they could see an outline of a panther in the cliff. This is how the beach got the name.
Nearest businesses are in the town of Davenport about a mile north.
Bus route 41 stops in Davenport. (One mile north.)
