From the ages of 25 to 40, Paul Tutwiler was an ordained Catholic Priest, which served as a basis for his interest in local religion and spiritual history. After he left the priesthood he became a security guard and then a college adviser. He moved to California in 1991 and to Bonny Doon in 1996. He penned the book Santa Cruz Spirituality in 2007.
