Description
The Pleasure Point Horns were founded in 1986 as the horn section for the local ska/ reggae/ jazz band the Square Roots by Dan Young and, since the demise of that band, they operate as a freelance horn section. The Pleasure Point Brass Band, modeled on a New Orleans street band, is also one of their projects. They have performed with a variety of artists, including James Durbin (American Idol finalist), the White Album Ensemble; Flip & the European Mutts; Pure Roots; Utopian Dreams; multi-Grammy Award winning guitarist Ken Emerson; Square Roots; Slow Gherkin; The Rowan Brothers; Polkacide; The Mad Maggies. John & Dan also work as 'hired guns' in commercial work such as video soundtracks, musicals, church worship performances and with jazz groups (New Flamingo Swing Orchestra, the Lyratones Big Band and the Top Shelf Big Band).
The PPH hire out for commercial and individual recording projects as a "rent-a-horn-section" outfit and provide arranging, composition and chart creation services.
