Description
Robert Lowery was born on April 8, 1931 in Shula, Arkansas. He began playing the blues as a teenager. In the 1957 Lowery located in Santa Cruz and played with Big Mama Thornton (they played the Beachcomber Club on Beach Street together in the early 1960s. He has played at a plethora of local venues, including a gig at Club Zayante where, he said, "It was like some old shack…when they started dancing in there, you could hardly walk, the whole building would be shaking!"1
Robert Lowery was awarded a Gail Rich Award in 1997.
