The oldest building in Capitola is the Superintendent's Office. This was the headquarters of Camp Capitola, a resort area that later became a city. Since then, it has been leased to different shops and a restaurant. There is a plaque on the side of the building designating the building as California Registered Historical Landmark number 860.
The plaque reads:
CAMP CAPITOLA
