Howard Patterson and Paul Magid met in 1972 while living in the dorms at UCSC, and soon after they were juggling together. They founded the Flying Karamazov Brothers the next year. In their early years they performed on the streets of Santa Cruz, but they are no longer based here. Magid is the only original member still performing with the Karamazovs, who are still dedicated to comedy, theatre, music and, of course, juggling. The Flying Karamazov Brothers were in the movie The Jewel of the Nile and they appeared on an episode of Seinfeld. In 2010 they appeared on The Late Show with David Letterman on CBS.
