Vinocruz houses a selection of over 200 wines made by more than 78 wineries, all within the Santa Cruz Mountains AVA. Tasting flights featuring these wines are available daily, and change weekly.
The idea for Vinocruz was simple. Create an environment that showcases the great wines, winemakers and personalities of the Santa Cruz Mountains.
Winemakers in the Santa Cruz Mountains have been making premium wines since the late 1800s, but the ability to reach those wines hasn’t changed much since then. In 2005 J-P Correa and Jeffrey Kongslie decided the time was right (overdue, actually) to create a space where people can enjoy and take home the great wines of this region. We have personally visited most of the wineries that we feature, and we hope our customers will benefit from that experience.
Many of the wines you’ll find here come from wineries that are rarely open to visitors, or not at all. These winemakers focus on quality, not quantity, and you’ll soon see how that level of care and attention results in outstanding wines. Our hope is that Vinocruz is a place where you’ll find some of your old favorites, and discover new ones as well.
So come on in, taste some great local wines, hear some stories and find out for yourself why this region is so unique. After many years of being referred to as one of “the most under-appreciated wine regions in the world,” the time has come to give Santa Cruz Mountain wines the attention they deserve . . .
"a stylish little shop called Vinocruz tucked off the beaten path in downtown that sells 185 wines from 64 area wineries. While some of the wines on its shelves enjoy pretty broad distribution, such as Ridge, Martin Ray, Bonny Doon and Thomas Fogarty, many others are small-production wines from such family-owned wineries as McHenry, Varner and Cooper-Garrod. As we stood there, surrounded by so many wines that we would never otherwise see, we felt like kids in a candy shop, or perhaps our daughter Media in a great shoe store." -Dorothy Gaiter and John Brecher, The Wall Street Journal.
