Perhaps one of the best things about living in (or visiting) a big city is the food! San Francisco offers a diverse array of restaurants — culturally, economically and morally. No matter your budget or taste, you're bound to find a few favorites, and, if you're especially adventurous, you're practically guaranteed to try something new all the time!
Although you're bound to find good restaurants serving all types of food wherever you go, you might have better luck finding something specific in certain parts of the city. First things first, if you're looking for good seafood, consider some restaurants in Fisherman's Wharf. If it's Italian you're after, check out North Beach. Mexican, Spanish and Latin American restaurants are plentiful in the Mission. Chinese food is especially prevalent all over, but you'll find a ton all in one place if you go to Chinatown or the less touristy Irving street. Japantown is significantly smaller, but that's where you'd go if you were hungry for — you guessed it — Japanese food. Korean food can be found in Japantown or down Geary. Even if you're looking for something a little less mainstream, such as Ethiopian or Senegalese food, you're bound to find it with just a little effort.
One excellent resource for the curious restaurant-goer is Yelp. Yelp is a website that started right here in San Francisco that lets users post their reviews of restaurants, bars, among many things.
