Established in 1968 by Dr. Nathan Hare, the Africana Studies department promotes academic excellence and social responsibility by focusing on the experiences and heritage of the entire African diaspora. It encourages students to use their knowledge to address the needs of Black communities and broader societal issues, stimulating liberatory knowledge for meaningful transformation.
