Summary:

CAPS provides a safe space for students to talk about their problems with a professional psychologist so as to make their problems less difficult by providing support and coming up with a plan for a better solution.

Specific services that SFSU offer are, the SAFE Place which provides crisis intervention, advocacy, and confidential Title IX support for students. Alcohol and Other Drug Counseling which provides support for students struggling with substance related problems. And Residential Life Counseling which is where students who are residents can talk about any concerns they have or reach out for support.

Evaluation

Students are free to walk-in for a thirty minute session, only if the event is an emergency or the student needs to be seen urgently by a psychologist. According to student survey, fifty-percent of the students did not know where the student services center was but walked past by it everyday or they were unable to schedule an appointment because it did not fit their schedules.

Summary:

San Francisco State University’s Health Promotion and Wellness unit provides its students with workshops and activities such as Self Care for Resilience, Tea Time Out, Self Care Station, and more which support its students with stress and anxiety issues. They also provide Counseling and Psychological Services which is also meant to help students who deal with stress, anxiety, and other mental health issues.

Evaluation:

Even though SFSU shows that they have a lot of workshops, activities, and services for students who deal with stress and anxiety, the hours that they occur are not well organized and they are also only able to help a certain amount of students at a time so some students may not be able to go.

The Village at Centennial Square is circled, located at Southwest Quad 3
