Created from Wikimedia Map Onondaga County, New York was formed in 1794 and named after the Onondaga Tribe of Native American people who lived in the area. Onondaga includes the City of Syracuse (the county seat), 19 towns and 17 villages and numerous hamlets. The county is surrounded by four other counties:
