YOUNG ARTIST CLASSESPre-School –A six-week class that is offered twice a year, Tuesdays from 10:30-11:30, $85 per six weeks. All materials are included in tuition. Two-to four-year-olds work on open-ended projects that are process-based. If your pre-school child is creative and loves art, this is a perfect class.
Drawing – Ages eight and older, Wed. or Thurs., from 3:30-4:30, students supply their own materials, we stock a kit with all supplies needed for $39.95 plus tax. Classes meet once a week. This class is designed to enhance the student’s drawing skills. The studio focuses on shape, shading and technique for drawing in pencil, pastel and watercolor.
Painting – Ages 10 and older, Wed. or Thurs., from 4:30-6:00, students supply their own materials, we stock a kit with all supplies needed for $39.95 plus tax. Classes meet once a week. Instructors work with students individually in a studio setting. Students elect to work in oil, watercolor or acrylic. Each student works at his/her own pace on a subject selected by them.
Mixed Media –Ages kindergarten-completed to age 9. Tues. or Thurs., from 3:30-4:30, all materials included. Classes meet once a week. Drawing, painting, sculpture and collage for students ages five to nine. Students work in one media all week, but each week the media changes.
* All classes are $55 a month, tuition is due at the beginning of the month and is non-refundable. If a class is missed, you are encouraged to make-up the class at one of the available times. * For students who attend Gilchrist Elementary School we have an optional Snack and Pick-up for an additional $15 a month, call for details.
ADULT CLASSESOIL PAINTING – TH: 10:00am-12:00pm; Wed: 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. This class meets once a week and students work individually on a subject of their choosing. Instructors Pam Talley and Charlotte Forehand work with students in the studio. All of our painting instructors are qualified to teach both oil and acrylic. Students provide their own materials and pre-registration is required.
WATERCOLOR – Beg.-adv. artists welcome – Monday 10:00a.m. to 12:00 p.m., $55 per month This class meets once a week and students work individually on a subject of their choosing. Artist Nina Allen Freeman offers basic individual instruction in this exciting medium. Students provide their own materials and pre-registration is required.
Handmade Collage Papers and Painting – Tuesday 10:00a.m. to 12:00 p.m., The class is $108 for eight weeks. Using primarily acrylic paint, students will create multimedia collage art and paintings based on a subject or style of their choosing. class begins Tuesday, September 11, 2012.
COMPOSITION - One of the most important elements in painting. It’s how artists determine where to direct the observer’s eye and coordinate all elements in the painting to produce a harmonious whole.
