The School of Arts and Sciences

The School of Arts and Sciences (SAS) is a public charter school in Tallahassee, Florida serving students in kindergarten through the eighth grade. SAS was established in 1999 to deliver the best education to students an inspiring vision of lifelong learning, an innovative curriculum, dedicated teachers, effective school leadership, involved parents, engaged students, sound financial management, and a beautiful school site.

 

The mission of SAS is to facilitate individual educational ownership and responsible lifelong learning through interdisciplinary approaches to arts and sciences in a safe and nurturing environment.

 

SAS is a nationally recognized and top-graded charter school.  SAS' unique and proven curriculum model emphasizes inquiry-based projects focused on the arts and sciences to facilitate lifelong learning, including multi-age classrooms, projects-based learning, hands-on curriculum, performing arts, integrated science, and student portfolios.

Admissions

SAS has the capacity to serve 270 students.  All students residing in Leon or Wakulla counties in Florida are welcome to apply. Openings at the school are filled through a random lottery process. Parents considering submitting an application for their child to attend SAS are strongly encouraged to participate in a school tour.  Tours are held every Monday at 10:00 a.m. during the school year (except during FCAT testing, holidays, Teacher Planning Days and Early Release Days).
