BIXI Toronto is a bike-share-program started in May of 2011. It is administered by Bixi and operates in a similar manner to programs around the world. You pay for a single day (24 hour) or multiple day (72 hour, 30 day, or one year). You can then get a bike from one of the stations and ride it around - you then return it to any of the stations in the system. The first 30 minutes of a ride is free, you are charged $1.50 for using it during the minues 31-60, $4.00 for minutes 61-90 and $8 for each additional half hour. Thus the system is very inexpensive if your start and end points are close to stations. As with most systems of this type if you check into a station there is a short delay (10 minutes perhaps?) before you can take out another bike in order to prevent people from "relaying" from one station to another for long trips and always staying within the 30 minute free period.
