If you regularly take the subway in Toronto then you've probably experienced a time when the train has stopped and you start to wonder why its not moving. Then depending on the train car your in you may hear a message advising you of the delay. If you've stopped at a Train Station and the doors are open you start the internal debate to find an alternate route or stick it out. Every so often there will be that massive delay due to whatever reason that will require the subways to be stopped for quite a while. Then thats when shuttle busses are set up to run between the subway stations. A lot of times those shuttle buses get pretty squished. So generally speaking if you take the subway a lot it may be worth it to consider alternate ways / back ups / other shortcuts to work or wherever you're going ..
- Is there a surface bus route that can get you there?
- Maybe a another transit system can get you there e.g. Go Transit, Viva, Mississauga Transit...
- Take a taxi?
- Maybe you can walk it? Walking to the next subway station may be a lot easier then sticking it out.
This could give you peace of mind on the odd occaision when these massive delays happen on the TTC...
Any other ideas????
