Living arts was formed in 1969 and is the longest continuously run non-profit contemporary arts organization in Oklahoma. The group, founded by artists Chuck Tomlins, Virginia Myers, Carl Coker and Max Mitchell, was incorporated in 1970 and received non-profit status in 1976 with a mission of the "development and presentation of contemporary art forms."
