Howe Homestead Park is named after James P. Howe, the original owner of the property. The six-and-a-half acre park is next to the Shell Ridge Open Space preserve. Hikers can start on the Kovar Trail and walk to the crest of Mount Diablo 10 miles away. The park is located at 2950 Walnut Boulevard in Walnut Creek.
