Milton John Grunig was the son of Godfrey and Sarah Jane (Patterson) Grunig. He was born in Magnetwan in 1920.

In 1945, Milton was listed as being in the Navy and living in Magnetawan (in terms of Voter Registration)

In later years he was listed in Toronto and Greenwood. In the 1950’s he was identified as a pipefitter and his wife Jean Elizabeth Grunig  as a postal clerk.

“HMCS Pictou was a Royal Canadian Navy Flower-class corvette which took part in convoy escort duties during the Second World War. She fought mainly in the Battle of the Atlantic. She was named for Pictou, Nova Scotia.
