Andrew Leggate Jr. was born December 26, 1892 in Burks Falls, the son of Andrew Leggate and Mary Miller.
At the time of the 1901 and 1911 censuses the Leggate family was identified as living in Ryerson Twp. and was specifically identified as living on Lot 11, Concession 8 in 1911. In the 1911 census, 18 year old Andrew was identified as working on the family farm.
Andrew enlisted April 3, 1916 in Burks Falls. He identified his address as Burks Falls, but his occupation as farmer.
Andrew married Eva Gertrude Milsap on August 21, 1918 in Pearcely.
Andrew and Eva had a daughter Irene born in 1922 in Burks Falls.
(In the 1921 census, Andrew Leggat and wife Grace and daughter Grace were shown living in Ryerson Twp.)
Andrew died July 16, 1974 in Burks Falls.
Andrew arrived in England on Nov. 11, 1916 on the S.S.Caronia.
He transferred from the 162nd to the 36th Reserve Battalion and subsequently to the 3rd Reserve Battalion and to the 123rd.
He embarked for France with the 123rd on March 9, 1917.
He took ill and was hospitalized in August.
Andrew was discharged March 6, 1918 as physically unfit.
