PAUL, DAVID
David Eldon Paul was born April 10, 1934 in Ahmic Harbour, the son of Ernest Richard ‘Ernie’ Paul and Elizabeth ‘Lizzie’ Stanyer.
At left, David Paul. He was obviously too young to join the forces in WWII, but his interest was already clearly in the Navy as this picture from the time of WWII shows.
David Paul was in the navy at the same time as Jack Wager - around the same time as the Korean War. They were on the Magnificent together. Apparently, when the Magnificent was being returned to Canada prior to decommissioning it hit a major storm and there was very real concern whether the ship would make it. David recounted that he lost 10 pounds on that return trip. After the Magnificent, David was assigned to the Bonnaventure.
