George was actually born June 2, 1900 in Sprucedale, the son of Robert Raaflaub and Jennette Booth. (He died August 20, 1971 in Spence Township.)
At the time of the 1921 census, George Foster Raaflaub lived in Indian Head municipality, Qu’Appelle, Saskatchewan.
He married Muriel Emma Flath on September 12, 1942 in Toronto. They had a daughter Linda June Raaflaub and 1 other child.
In his Attestation papers signed January 28, 1916 in Orillia, George Foster Raaflaub identified that he had been born in Sprucedale.
At the time of enlistment, he identified himself as a farmer.
His Discharge proceedings were March 14, 1918 (Lance Corporal George Foster Raaflaub).
George arrived in England on the S.S. Cameronia on October 28, 1916.
He transferred to the 116th from the 157th in December to the 8th Battalion.
In February of 1917 he proceeded to France.
He was appointed Lance Corporal in November 1917.
The nature of the injury or disability that lead to his early discharge is not clear.
