Clover Street and West Clover Street together run east-west between Railroad Street and California Street, crossing through nearly the full width of central Woodland. Clover Street becomes West Clover Street when it passes west of West Street.
Clover Street, West Clover Street, and Clover Court are all named for clover, a genus of plants found abundantly in Woodland. There are 12 clover species native to Woodland and 4 more that are native to other parts of Yolo County.
West Clover Street
West Clover Street runs between California Street and West Street. It is situated south of Buckeye Street and north of Elliot Street. The only street it intersects is Clover Court, which projects north from West Clover Street near its west end. Fair Plaza Senior Apartments (along with Fair Plaza East) occupies the entire south side of West Clover Street along its full length.
Clover Street
Clover Street runs between West Street and Railroad Street. It is situated north of North Street and south of Beamer Street. It intersects Grand Avenue (which heads north only from Clover Street), Olive Way (twice—heading north both times), Walnut Street, Locust Street, Elm Street, College Street, Library Alley, 1st Street, Yolo Alley, 2nd Street, 3rd Street, 4th Street, Victory Way (north only), and 5th Street. It runs past Stevens Worldwide Van Lines and Pikes Heating & Air on its east end.
Clover Street has been planted with street trees by the city. The street trees include three invasive weed species: Purple-leaf Plum/Cherry Plum (Prunus cerasifera), Flowering Pear/Callery Pear (Pyrus calleryana), and Chinese Tallow Tree (Triadica sebifera). However, they also include Valley Oak (Quercus lobata), which is native to Woodland, and Modesto Ash/Arizona Ash (Fraxinus velutina), which is native to other parts of California. Other non-native street trees on Clover Street include Trident Maple (Acer buergerianum), Strawberry Tree (Arbutus unedo), Camphor Laurel (Camphora officinarum), European Hornbeam (Carpinus betulus 'Fastigiata'), English Hawthorn (Crataegus laevigata), Goldenrain Tree (Koelreuteria paniculata), Crape Myrtle (Lagerstroemia indica), American Sweetgum (Liquidambar styraciflua), Southern Magnolia (Magnolia grandiflora), Fruitless Mulberry (Morus alba), Aleppo Pine (Pinus halepensis), Chinese Pistache (Pistacia chinensis), London Plane (Platanus × hispanica), Peach (Prunus persica), Pomegranate (Punica granatum), Idaho Locust (Robinia × ambigua 'Idahoensis'), Queen Palm (Syagrus romanzoffiana), Chinese Elm (Ulmus parvifolia), and Saw-leaf Zelkova (Zelkova serrata).
