Allen Park (population 28,210) is a city located in northern Downriver. Borders include Fordline Street, Goddard Road, Allen Road, Pelham Road, Van Born Road, Southfield Road, Rotunda Drive, the Rouge River, and a Canadian National track. Major roads include Wick Road, Ecorse Road, Outer Drive and Oakwood Boulevard. The current mayor is William Matakas.
Became a city in 1957 after three attempts.
The city, named the second "happiest city in Michigan" based on a data poll by the website Homesnacks (and profiled on WXYZ.com), has been home to the Detroit Lions headquarters and training facility since 2003.
