This company is completely unrelated to the now-defunct Citizens Bank that acquired Republic Bank in 2007.
Citizens Bank is the United States arm of the Royal Bank of Scotland, based out of Rhode Island. They operate 101 branches in Michigan, all of which were until April 2015 Charter One Bank branches.
Most of the Downriver branches started out as either (First) National Bank of Wyandotte (later Charter Bank) or First Federal of Michigan and ultimately ended up under the Citizens Bank nameplate after various mergers and acquisitions.
