Interstate 94 runs east-west through extreme northern Downriver, through Romulus, Taylor and Allen Park. Major cities to the east are Detroit and Port Huron; major cities heading west are Ypsilanti, Ann Arbor, Jackson, Battle Creek, Kalamazoo, Gary and Chicago. Beyond Chicago, I-94 continues all the way west to southeastern Montana. Notable landmarks include the Gateway Bridge and the Uniroyal Tire.

- Exit 197: Vining Road
- Exit 198: Merriman Road
- Exit 199: Middlebelt Road
Exits 198 and 199 were originally separate exits, but in 1996 were combined into a single exit onto a collector road that connects to both interchanges. Prior to the construction of I-275, there was an Exit 193 connecting to Northline Road.
