Beale Air Force Base is an active United States Air Force base and a census-designated place in Yuba County. Beale is part of the Air Combat Command, and its primary role is reconnaissance. It is located south of the Yuba River, north of Wheatland, and east of Linda. It has a population of 5,115 (as of the 2000 census) and a total area of 36 square miles. Its elevation is 112 feet. The average annual rainfall is 17.5 inches. The average high temperature in July is 96.3°, and the average low temperature in January is 38.0°.

As of a July 2007 estimate1, residents' median age was 23 years, the youngest in the Yuba-Sutter area.

History
Beale Air Force Base was established in 1943. It is named for Edward Fitzgerald Beale, a Lieutenant in the United States Navy and a Brigadier General in the California Militia who was an explorer and frontiersman.
In early 2008, Beale Air Force Base applied to become the home of the new Air Force Cyber Command.
