The Courage Campaign Yuba-Sutter Equality Team is a team that promotes a broad range of progressive causes in the Yuba-Sutter area, with a particular focus on LGBT rights. It is supported by the resources and expertise of the statewide Courage Campaign. Courage Campaign volunteers have also formed local Equality Teams in adjacent Nevada County, Placer County, Sacramento County, and Yolo County, and are lobbying for progressive causes throughout California.
Meet other Yuba-Sutter residents who support organizing for full equality and progressive change in California. Find out how the statewide resources of the Courage Campaign can help us build a more equality-minded neighborhood—and what you can do to join in! Events
January 2, 2010: Friends of Equality New Year's Pot Luck at Harmony Health Family Resource Center. The team rang in the new year in egalitarian style!
March 13, 2010: Courage Academy. Equality Teams from Yuba-Sutter, Placer, Yolo, Nevada, and Sacramento Counties met to learn expert techniques for political activism and community organizing. Marshall Ganz, who created the successful grassroots organizing and training model for Barack Obama's winning 2008 presidential campaign, has been helping the Courage Campaign put the same strategies to work for us. We learned to tell our "stories of self," how to have more productive and persuasive conversations about progressive issues with everyone from family members to strangers, and much more.
April 25, 2010: Progress Party Wildflower Walk on Table Mountain. We're inviting other equality-minded organizations and individuals from our neighborhoods to join us for a friendly outing to celebrate our progress so far, share our stories about life on the left in the Yuba-Sutter area, and just get to know each other better. We'll start with a picnic at 1:00 p.m., then go walking at 2:00 p.m.
July 2010: Rural Equality Celebration. We'll meet with the Placer, Nevada, El Dorado, Amador, and other rural Equality Teams to celebrate our successes in rural areas.
Summer/Fall 2010: Feed the Needy. Progressive churches and charitable organizations throughout the Yuba-Sutter area are encouraged to sign up to feed the needy and donate clothes for them. Please contact the team to join in or find out more.
