The 689-acre Darby Road Unit of Daugherty Hill State Wildlife Area is located at the southern end of Darby Road. The Darby Road Unit is the smallest and the northernmost of the three units in Daugherty Hill State Wildlife Area, and crosses partially into Butte County. It features a corral and an olive orchard. The south branch of Honcut Creek passes through it.
Warning: Winter rainstorms often flood the concrete road crossing over South Honcut Creek in the Darby Road Unit of Daugherty Hill State Wildlife Area. If water is flowing over the bridge, return to La Porte Road and follow it east for 4.2 miles, then turn right on Vierra Road and follow it for 3.8 miles to reach the parking lot of the Darby Road Unit.
