Skullcaps are perennial forbs in the Scutellaria genus of the mint family. Many of them are native to the Yuba-Sutter area.

Grayleaf Skullcap

Grayleaf skullcap is an eight-inch-tall, purple-flowering, evergreen skullcap that is native to Yuba and Sutter Counties and typically grows at elevations below 8,000 feet. It is found in central oak woodland and yellow pine forest.
